Hear Ye Hear Ye! At long last A Horrible Histories Film Is In The Works

As mature as many of us like to think we are, the news that the popular book series-turned-TV-show will soon be heading for the silver screen will surely bring joy to not only children but many an adult too.

Revealed at the Edinburgh International TV Festival this weekend, the show’s producer Caroline Norris has announced that a Horrible Histories movie is in development.

Though targeted at children, the sharp script, sketch-style format and skilled cast of British comedians means that is has become a guilty pleasure for many parents as well as people with no children but who have been won over by the shows madcap charm. The surprise appearance of some of the cast at the Queen’s Jubilee Flotilla celebrations was a welcome addition and received widespread praise on Twitter.

The film will allegedly not be following the sketch format of the series and instead is thought to be focused on just one historical time period, thought whether this will be the Vile Victorians or the Rotten Romans is yet to be revealed.

Production on series five of the programme begins shortly with development of the film to follow. Let me know some of your favourite books or episodes that you would hope to be featured in the film. Personally I’m hoping for something along these lines:

  1. You could definitely see your enthusiasm in the paintings you write. The arena hopes for even more passionate writers like you who are not afraid to say how they believe. Always go after your heart.
