Here’s the Silver Lining, trailer 2 has been released.

David O’Russell’s consistently interesting work combined with the whimsical first trailer are already reason enough to pique our interest his latest feature, The Silver Linings Playbook and now a second trailer has been released to seal the deal.

Retaining the same quirky tone, this trailer also reveals more of the darker side of Pat (Bradley Cooper’s) psyche. Recently home from a mental institution following a breakdown, Pat is eager to rebuild his life and reconcile with his ex-wife. He finds somewhat of a kindred spirit in Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), who is recently widowed and struggling with her own demons.  While in the previous trailer his breakdown was mostly played for laughs, some of the new footage shows his struggle as well and there looks to be a healthy balance of humour and heart.

Though Lawrence hardly looks old enough to be a widow, i’m sure all will be explained and her and Cooper’s feisty chemistry shines through in the trailer and looks to be amusing yet grounded and real which is encouraging as the two are also set to reunite in Serena in 2013.

O’Russell’s work often produces great performances, most recently seen with Christian Bale’s Oscar win and other cast nominations for the Fighter. Lawrence has already proven herself a formidable talent with an Oscar nomination to her name at only 22 ( for Winter’s Bone) and with her sucess in the Hunger Games she is sure to draw many a fanboy and girl to her new releases. Cooper has also been making interesting choices of late and with some early buzz surrounding the film and a supporting cast of Robert De Niro and Jackie Weaver it will be interesting to see the final result.

Take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think.
